Dutch Ovens for Home Use

You would be surprised, but there are Dutch ovens for home use.  They aren’t nearly as large or as heavy, but they can be both large and heavy.  They also might not be called Dutch ovens, but that doesn’t mean they perform at a lower level.  They’re pretty much Dutch ovens because they’re heavy pots with heavy lids that heat up slowly and keep the heat for a long amount of time.  You also might not be able to cook as much food as you would in a normal Dutch oven, but the idea that you would want to do that at home is a little strange seeing as how your group is going to be smaller, which makes the amount you have to cook smaller as well.
A common method of replicating the Dutch oven cooking process at home shows itself in the form of Crockpot meals.  As with Dutch ovens, you can put the food in them early in the day and return to find a fully cooked meal when dinner time comes around.  They don’t generate nearly as much heat as a Dutch oven, but they can slowly cook a meal by gradually heating it up.  While the typical Dutch oven could heat your house up quick, you’re not going to see a temperature change when you fire up the Crockpot.  The results are arguably more delicious than what you could generate using a Dutch oven.  But since you can’t bring a Dutch oven home and Crockpots are useless without electricity, you’re left to use each one in their respective settings.
