Classic Dutch Ovens

Classic Dutch ovens are the simplest, but most effective methods for slow cooking anything.  Their design consists of a cooking pot similar to what you would find in the stash of pots and pans in your kitchen, at least for legs to hold the entire operation up, and a heavy lid to keep it all in.  The overall presentation is to ensure it takes awhile to heat up and cool down everything.  Classic Dutch ovens have been a popular vessel for cooking things for hundreds of years.  It’s impossible to tell when they made their first appearance because when you get to a certain point in history, the records become incomplete and unreliable.

What we do know is that they have been around for as long as our oldest citizens can remember and even earlier than that.  When it comes to something that’s proven itself over time, you can’t really improve on the design that’s been perfected over the course of hundreds of years.  If you try, you might end up undoing all the progress that has been made.  That’s why they call them classic Dutch ovens.  Classic means something that’s shown to be effective over the course of a number of years and could be effective even after new models come on the market.  Classic Dutch ovens are great because they’re simple.  You don’t need to get too complex in order to get the job done.  Stick with the basics and reap the rewards of delicious food when the night is over.
