Buying Camp Tables

Camp tables are an extra that a lot of people don't think of.  This isn't an accessory for camping that everyone needs, after all.  Many regular campers will only be going to an area that already provides tables and benches for you to sit on, so lugging camp tables along just doesn’t make sense.  On the incredibly long journeys that backpackers make, this extra is certainly not needed and often discarded.  That being said, in many journeys for the more adventurous, camp tables are a great choice.

Let's talk about why.  First, camp tables are an obvious thing to have in camp.  It gives you a place to eat your food comfortably, yes, but it's also a place where people can congregate.  Whether you're having a meal of playing cards, having a table in your camp site is a good idea.  Not all camp sites are going to have this, and not all camping adventures are going to be to areas that already have tables, or even areas that are fully prepared for camping.  In those cases, camp tables are an obvious choice.

Camp tables are also not as inconvenient as you think they are.  We have fold up tables, yes, which is what most people think of.  Those can be a little bulky, but not bad, when you add them to your pack.  My personal favorite, though, is roll-up tables.  You can roll these into a cylinder and put them in your pack with ease.  And the weights on items like this?  You can get a four person table of a roll-up variety at about nine pounds, all things totaled.  Not bad, right?
